Step 4 of Make Up Mistakes

Step 4 is Eye Brows

This is often left out and is a very important part of your ‘glamour’ routine. Your brows frame your face and the proper brow shape is important.

The big mistake is that no attention is brought to your brows or it is too dramatic.
  • Start with properly shaping your brows! The beginning of your brow should be at the outside of a pencil when it is lined vertically beside your nose! The end of your brow should be at the point of the pencil when the pencil is lined up from your nostril to the outside corner of your eye.

  • Shape brows using apencil or brush. Remove any excess powder or foundation.

  • Apply the brow pencil, beginning at the corner of your eye, going with the hair in short light strokes. Us a matching colour or one slightly lighter. This avoids to harsh a brow.

  • Finish off by blending pencil lines by gently brushing brows.

10 Common Make-Up Mistakes and How to Fix Them

We have covered

  1. foundation
  2. eyeshadow

Now we are onto STEP 3 Eye Liner

The purpose of eyeliner is to accent and make your eyelashes appear thicker. It is applied above your eye lashes on your eye lid. Some apply it between their eye lid and their eye ball. This should be avoided as it doesn’t promote the apearance of thick eyelashes.

  • Do not apply it too harsh or thick. This makes it look unfinished. Softer is better. Blend the colour in with a good brush for a finished look. Invest in a blending brush to help smooth out line.
  • Apply on the top lid and if you apply on the bottom lid only use it on your lid from the pupil outward.
  • When you use liquid eyeliner have good clean line and do not extend past your eye. Use liquid liner only on your top as it lasts longer.
  • In a pinch you can use eye shadow with a brush or a q-tip to line your eyes.

10 Make up mistakes and how to fix them!

Step 2 - Eye Shadow

  • One of the biggest mistakes is too much color. Be wary of putting on too much eye shadow. Simpler is better. It is best to use 1 accent color.
  • Light colors make things look more prominent. Use light colours on your brow line, and lid. This give the appearance of larger fuller eyes.
  • Use darker colors on your eye crease. This makes your eyes appear bigger.
  • Choose a colors according to what you are wearing.

10 Common Make Up Mistakes - and how to fix them!

  1. Foundation - The most common error is that you look like you are wearing a mask OR you wear no foundation at all!
  • One reason you should wear foundation is to protect your skin. Its purpose is to look like skin and even your skin tone.
  • Prevent the mask look or 'the line' by choosing the correct shade. Apply a small dab on your jawline. Gently rub it in and let it dry. You should not be able to see it. If it is visible, it is the wrong shade. Match your ivory, beige and bronze skin tones with undertones of yellow, pink and bronze.
  • The right foundation weight such as full coverage or light coverage depends on your type (oily, dry, or combination).
  • Trying it on the back of your hand doesn't work. Your hand color and tone is quite different than you face color!
  • Gently dab your foundation on. Then smooth it over your forehead, cheeks and throat. Rubbing it smears and pulls at your skin.

We all Like Beautiful Skin. Don't We?

There are 5 basic skin care steps for smooth skin that will last you a life time.
  1. Cleanse to remove dirt, oil and impurities.
  2. Exfoliate to remove dead surface cells that dull the skin.
  3. Freshen to refine pores as well as tone.
  4. Moisturize to help keep your skin supple and hydrated.
  5. Protect your skin from the environment.

If you follow these 5 simple steps you will have lovley, smooth skin for your life.

To begin your routine, start with a cleanser. The cleanser I use and love is Mary Kay 3-in-1 Cleanser formulated for my skin type. Use your cleanser in gentle upward strokes from chin to cheeks to clean and remove any impurities on your skin.

Remove the cleanser gently using a moist warm face cloth. No need to scrub! Scrubbing will excite your oil glands in your face and may cause a break out. Just rinse or genly wipe the cleanser off.

I love the MK 3-in-1 because it covers off the first 3 steps in my skin care routine. the gently exfoliating beads remove dead skin cells that dull my skin and it works with the natural processes of my skin.

The freshening leaves my face fresh and tingley. I used to use an alcohol based product thinking that the burning of the alcohol was helping me. Now I know I was just doing that. Burning my skin. Now I let the natural botanicals in the 3-in-1 freshen and refine my pores.

Now step 4! Hydrating with moisturizers prevents wrinkles. The loss of moisture in your skin is a major contributor to wrinkles. And who likes wrinkles? Not me. That is why I use Time-Wise Moisturizer especially formulated for my skin type.

The 5th and final step, protecting. Foundation. Choosing your foundation color is not a chore. Just dab a small amount of foundation on your jawline. Smooth it in and presto! It should disappear. If you can see a line you have the WRONG COLOR. Gone are the days of 'the line'. You know the line on you jaw where your throat was a different color than your face.

After following these simple steps you will notice how soft and supple your skin feels, not just today but everyday.
