Skin Care Facts – What’s the Bare Minimum?

Wrinkle Free skin
There are many creams, soaps, cleaners and concoctions on the market to help the signs of aging, but are they really necessary?

Can wrinkles be minimized?

Skin care is more than reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Ellen Marmur, author of Simple Skin Beauty says that, “the appearance of wrinkles is the dead skin so it makes the skin crinkled, like tissue paper layered on top”. She recommends using a exfoliate weekly to help remove dead skin cells that make your skin look dull.

Do Moisturizers Have to Be Expensive?

Moisturizers are made to replace moisture loss from you skin. The more expensive brands may have higher quality items that make the moisturizers feel nicer, glide on smoother and smell nicer but their foundation is the same moisturizing ingredients.

What is important is to match the skin type with the type of moisturizer. Using creams and moisturizers with oily base may not be a good match for oily skin type. So match your skin type with the type of moisturizer.

Collagen can help skin be more elastic
Moisturizers work by providing suppleness to the surface of the skin thus making the skin surface appear smoother and less wrinkled. Collagen helps maintain the elasticity in the skin to make the skin smooth and firm. Wrinkles and sagging skin results from the loss of collagen during the natural aging process. By providing the body with collagen the aging process can be slowed down and wrinkles can be lessened.
