Finding Products That Work

Finding good products is half the battle. Whether it is groceries, clothing or personal care products. It takes time to find the right product that does the job, and works the way it should, and the way it says it would.

Take time to get good quality products from manufacturers that you know and trust. This is important because:
  • Name brand products are tested and have quality control assurances. This means that they have passed stringent guidelines and are released for public use after they have passed certain guidelines.
  • Quality products use quality ingredients. Top skin care companies understand that quality ingredients will provide it's users with quality benefits and better skin. This in turn will promote the use and customer loyalty.
  • Top skin care lines have consistent production and money back guarantees. If, for some reason, there is a problem with colour or skin sensitivity, a name brand line will accept returns and exchanges. this is handy when the exact color can't be decided in the store or if you develop a reaction to a cream or powder.
Once you have found a line or type of product you like ... stick with it rather than jumping from sale item to sale item. Your skin will thank you for it.

Take a look at the promotions page to see how you can get treat your skin to some quality products.

Questions People Ask Me

Why do I need a skin care regime?
This is the most popular question that people ask me. I say ... you have one chance to make a good first impression. If you have great skin and feel good about yourself then you will make a good first impression.

As skin ages the dead skin cells accumulate on the surface of your skin and this makes your skin look dull. A good skin care system helps the natural renewal process of your skin and should include five important steps:
  1. Cleanse - to remove dirt oil and makeup
  2. Exfoliate - to remove build up of dead skin cells
  3. Freshen - to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and helps reduce pore size
  4. Moisturize  - to keep skin moist and supple
  5. Protect - to prevent moisture loss.
Keeping your skin healthy and elastic is the purpose of a good skin care program.

Skin Care Facts – What’s the Bare Minimum?

Wrinkle Free skin
There are many creams, soaps, cleaners and concoctions on the market to help the signs of aging, but are they really necessary?

Can wrinkles be minimized?

Skin care is more than reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Ellen Marmur, author of Simple Skin Beauty says that, “the appearance of wrinkles is the dead skin so it makes the skin crinkled, like tissue paper layered on top”. She recommends using a exfoliate weekly to help remove dead skin cells that make your skin look dull.

Do Moisturizers Have to Be Expensive?

Moisturizers are made to replace moisture loss from you skin. The more expensive brands may have higher quality items that make the moisturizers feel nicer, glide on smoother and smell nicer but their foundation is the same moisturizing ingredients.

What is important is to match the skin type with the type of moisturizer. Using creams and moisturizers with oily base may not be a good match for oily skin type. So match your skin type with the type of moisturizer.

Collagen can help skin be more elastic
Moisturizers work by providing suppleness to the surface of the skin thus making the skin surface appear smoother and less wrinkled. Collagen helps maintain the elasticity in the skin to make the skin smooth and firm. Wrinkles and sagging skin results from the loss of collagen during the natural aging process. By providing the body with collagen the aging process can be slowed down and wrinkles can be lessened.

Skin Care: Replace Your Collagen to Prevent Wrinkles

A leading University in the UK had done some reasearch regarding the nanostructure of skin care and aging creams and found a startling result. These high performance skin care creams contained a peptide amphiphile (PA).

Peptides are often included in skin care creams to prevent the onset of wrinkles. Wrinkles begin when the collagen of the skin begins to brake down. When people are young their skin has healthy collagen that is strong and taut. As people age the long chains of collagen break down into shorter segments.

These segments are peptides and they trigger the body into forming more collagen. The new research performed at the UK university reveals than the peptides used in anti wrinkle and skin care creams provide a network for collagen to create new growth.

In addition to providing anti-wrinkle relief they hope to use this application for healing wounds as well.

Top 5 Skin Care Tips

Hi there – Its Laura again with some skin care tips.

Did you know that you have around 20 square feet of skin surrounding your body? That’s a lot of skin to take care of. Each day we slough off layers of skin and new skin is exposed and in a lifetime we may grow around 1,000 layers of fresh skin.

To help keep your new skin fresh, soft and supple try these skin care tips.
1. Opt in for a cleanser rather than a lathering soap. Clear soaps and cleansers are usually made with glycerin that is less drying for your skin. Avoid soaps that have extra astringent properties, peppermint and eucalyptus for example, because they may irritate your skin even more.
2. Use an SPF on your lips. In addition to protecting the skin on your body an SPF protectant for your lips is necessary. The skin on your lips is very delicate and should be protected.
3. Don’t wait to use an anti-aging cream. Start now! Vitamin A and C are proven to help maintain the elasticity of the skin and preventing and reversing sun damage and signs of aging.
4. Eat properly and drink clear fresh water. Avoid fried food and pass on the fries. Research has shown that nutrition is the key to healthy skin. Stay away from sugary foods and high carbohydrate treats and pile on the salad.
5. Use a moisturizer suitable for your skin type.

Should I wear SPF in the winter?

Everyone likes beautiful skin, don't they? Dry and chapped skin can be a thing of the past and can be avoided, if you follow a few simple steps. The sun's rays can be just as damaging in the winter months as it is in the summer months and a moisturizer with a SPF should be used.

As an added bonus there will be reflection off of the snow which may even intensify the effect of the sun. Consider using a sunblock with a minimum SPF 15. Remember the lower the number the less protection is offered.

It is beneficial to use a sunblock all year round, not just in the summer time. And don't forget your lips. Use a SPF 15 on your lips to prevent chapped lips.

With winter on its way special skin care considerations are in order. Putting the moisture back in and keeping it there is of prime importance during the winter months. Keeping the moisture in your skin will reduce the harmful damaging effects of the drying winter winds.

Here are Six ways you can help keep your skin hydrated this winter:

1. Drink plenty of water . Hydrate your skin from the inside. Good ole H2O will replace moisture loss. Drink eight - 250ml (one cup) glasses of water per day to prevent dryness.

2. Choose mild soap and cleansers. Harsh soaps will strip the natural oils from your skin. Stick to milder cleansers. Choose the best soap or cleanser for your skin type. During dryer parts of the year switching to a less stringent cleanser is a consideration. If you are currently using a cleanser for an oily skin consider changing to a dry skin cleanser if you suffer from dry skin during the winter months.

3. Take short, warm showers . Long hot showers pull the natural oils from your skin leaving it dehydrated. As an added bonus taking shorter warm showers will help reduce your electricity bill.

4. Moisturize after your shower , and moisturize while your skin is still damp. This will 'lock in' the moisture that is on your skin preventing it from evaporating and also the moisturizer will provide additional hydration for your skin. It is important to use a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type. Elbows, knees, heels or other problem areas should receive special treatment to provide additional relief.

5. Invest in a humidifier . Generally dry winter conditions combined with central heating does double duty pulling the moisture from the air and, likewise, from your skin. The humidifier will keep more moisture in the air and thereby slow the natural daily moisture loss of your skin.

Invest in the future, protect your skin. You deserve it!

Take Care of Your Skin

Skin care is not just a daily thing. It is a regime that is followed to improve skincare and protect your skin. Skin care is not just about, cleaning. It also includes, moisturizing, exfoliating, sun protection. Anything that is put on your skin can and will have an impact on your face.

How to Buy Cosmetics

If possible ‘try before you buy’ is a good thing to remember. Sometimes after using a cosmetic brand you may develop an allergic reaction. If you do try, do not sample the ‘tester’ at the cosmetic counter at the local department store. These pots of creams are open to a plethora of bacteria. The sample should be in, if possible, in a single use air tight package.

If you are getting a rash or reaction from products you have been using consider how long you have had them:

•Mascara – Turf it after 3- 4 months. Mascara has a considerable amount of bacteria able to grow in the tube. Never pump the wand in the holder. That puts air into the container and makes the mascara dry out. NEVER share your mascara. It is a great way to share…. Share your bacteria that is. Itchy eyes, swollen lids and tearing can result from bacteria in your mascara.

•Foundation – One year max. on the foundation.

•Lip stick – 2 years

•Brushes and applicators – these can be washed regularly. Clean them every few months or replace them.

Be aware that if there are natural botanicals does not mean that there are natural ingredients. Sometimes these natural ingredients are actually synthesized in a laboratory not extracted from plants.

Moisturizers

Anti-wrinkles, age defying, regenerate, all these are descriptors seem to point to the main point of skin care… to stop your skin from aging. Well your skin is getting older as we speak. To slow the aging process will take more than moisturizer.

Having smooth, blemish free skin is a desirable goal but at what cost. Moisturizers work by replacing natural oil in you skin with an added substance from a bottle. The fissures in your skin are filled making them look smoother and provides an oily film to prevent natural moisture loss.

When buying lotions, look at the ingredient list. If you are buying a soothing aloe cream and aloe is listed in the bottom 3rd of the ingredients then you’re not getting much aloe in your cream

With the economic crunch in full swing and companies downsizing its no wonder that women (and men!) are turning to at home businesses. The trusted stand bys such as Tupperware, Avon and Mary Kay have proven once again that women can make money selling what they believe in.

The amount of money you can make with an at home business is only restricted by your own imagination. Just ask Robert Suchan, a top Selling Tupperware consultant who dresses as “Your Aunt Barbara” hosting parties that net $8,500 per month. Some like top Mary Kay Directors net well over $ 1,000,000 per year.

Pearls, diamonds and other incentives such as cars and exotic trips make up the multi million dollar direct selling business. And “Mary Kay has seen a 22 percent increase in global sales consultants between the first quarter of 2008 and the first quarter of 2009.” [source:newsweek.com Mar 1, 2010]
